Herbs in a Bottle was represented at the annual Conference of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists held at the Crewe Hall Hotel from 18th to 21st October. HiaB had a stand in the Exhibitors' Hall which was run by Katie Dobiesz and David Carter. HiaB also sponsored the New Members' Reception at the Conference.
Talking about the Conference Katie Dobiesz said:
"It was amazing this year. I was really impressed with the enthusiasm and the great positive vibe you could feel throughout the conference. On our stand we were rushed off our feet and nearly all our samples and literature went in the first day so we had to hurriedly call in new supplies! It was also great to meet so many old friends and make new friends among the newly-qualified practitioners. For me the highlights of the conference included Julian Barker's talk on Friday on Illness as a failure of adaptation, the Michael Ash lecture on Saturday The role of nutrition in chronic non-infectious illness, and Dee Atkinson's workshop on The Tonic Prescribing Principle. But really all of the conference was marvellous, and I came away from the weekend feeling energised and open and really really positive about the future of herbal medicine. Thanks go to NIMH for creating just the right mix of serious seminars, enjoyable social events, and so many opportunities for meeting fellow herbalists!"
David Carter added:
"This was my first NIMH Conference and so I was not too sure what to expect, but I was bowled over by the scale and professionalism of the event and the dedicated way in which NIMH members approach their calling. This is a profession with a great future and I am determined that Herbs in a Bottle will support medical herbalism to the best of our ability. Thank you also to all the Herbs in a Bottle staff for working so hard to get things ready for our stand at the Conference - it was much appreciated."
